Susie and Haru are registered dental hygienists with over 40 years of combined experience serving patients of all ages. They continually encounter patients whose dental health have been compromised by existing undiagnosed orofacial myofunctional disorders.

To better serve and treat their patients they recognized the opportunity for myofunctional therapy as a vital intervention in helping patients achieve whole-body health.

Identifying orofacial myofunctional disorders in themselves and their familes have led them to focus on building the awareness around myofunctional therapy. They have seen first hand the impact it has in eliminating improper swallow patterns, preventing orthodontic relapse, improving sleep, blood pressure and more.

Fun and socially engaging, Susie and Haru genuinely love talking and educating people. They enjoy motivating their patients to become an advocate for their own health and their children's health.

Myofunctional Therapy 101

Myofunctional therapy is a program to help eliminate oral habits and Oral Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs). These include, but are not limited to: thumb sucking, tongue thrusting, and mouth breathing. These OMDs may affect sleep, speech, and chewing/swallowing, and can lead to orthodontic relapse.

Myofunctional therapy sessions focus on improving nasal breathing, orofacial muscles, and proper function.
